Interim Pastor Started With Us March 28th
We are thankful that Dr. Brooke Solberg has agreed to be our interim pastor. Dr. Solberg lives in Allentown with his wife, Ruth, of 42 years. He has four grown children and seven grandchildren. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he has been a full-time pastor at a couple of churches in the Allentown area over his career. More recently he has been working with the Evangelical Free Church of America serving as an interim pastor for churches in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and even the mid-west! His passion is people and preaching and he has a pastor's heart that seeks to encourage and motivate others. He also has avid interests in basketball, tennis and jogging. We will be finding out much more as a church about Dr. Solberg in the coming months as he started his ministry with us on Sunday, March 28 (Palm Sunday).
Next Sunday’s Sermon
Next Sunday is Pentecost Sunday and in keeping with our theme “Living Like a Believer” the sermon title will be “About Being One.” When the Holy Spirit fell on those assembled He created in them a sense of ONENESS. Do you sense that Holy Spirit given oneness today? Is there just one church in God’s eyes? … in yours? How do we best express Pentecost? Our scripture text will be Ephesians 4:1-6.
LADIES BOOK CLUB, Starting May 24th
Hi Ladies! Hope you'll consider joining us for this refreshingly honest look at God's design for us as women. If you've ever struggled to reconcile scripture's vision of virtuous womanhood with a culture that marginalizes the role of the homemaker, this book is a breath of fresh air and a new look at a timeless concept of woman as the help-meet God designed her to be. Passionate Housewives Desperate for God by Jennie Chancey and Stacy McDonald. We'll meet Monday nights from 7-9pm, starting May 24th and running through June. Please contact Jessica Stackhouse (jessicastackhouse@hotmail.com or 610-331-7214) if you are interested in joining this short-term book club.
Elder Slate for Annual Meeting
The elders to be voted on at the Annual Meeting on June 27 are Doug Balfour, Rick Davis, Bob DiRico, Mark Forshaw, Ken Lutters and Mark Raudenbush. Bruce Lyster is completing his second term and is not eligible to serve for another year. Tucker Lownes is completing his first term and his seminary workload precludes a second term. Ken Lutters is completing his first term and is being nominated for a second term. He will be the only one on the slate as others were nominated but are unable to serve at this time. Doug Balfour, Rick Davis, Mark Forshaw, Bob DiRico, and Mark Raudenbush are midway through their two year terms. The Constitution requires a minimum of 4 lay elders.
